Map reveals exactly where all the speed traps are hidden across California

A new map has revealed where red light and speed cameras have been deployed across California — with Los Angeles and the Bay Area being the most concentrated.The list, compiled by Ticket Snipers, tracks automated traffic enforcement traps across the state, including both red-light cameras and newer speed safety cameras.The greater LA area is expected to have 139, while the Bay Area already has 83.Cities listed in NorCal include San Francisco, Oakland and San Jose.In LA County, cameras are expected in areas including Koreatown, West Hollywood, Pico-Robertson and Long Beach.Malibu has also recently deployed them along Pacific Coast Highway as part of an effort to crack down on speeding along the notoriously dangerous roadway.The map also shows red-light cameras scattered throughout California.San Francisco has 25 red-light cameras, while San Jose has 18 and Sacramento has 16, according to Ticket Snipers.

Modesto and Merced have a combined 22 cameras, while Redding has 12 and Chico has five.Farther south, the map shows 11 red-light cameras in Bakersfield, 21 in Ventura, 71 in Los Angeles and 12 in Orange County.Solana Beach and Del Mar have a combined five.Automated traffic enforcement is expanding in California as cities turn to cameras to monitor dangerous roads and intersections and, officials say, reduce crashes and speeding.The technology allows authorities to issue citations based on evidence captured by cameras rather than requiring a police officer to pull over a driver.
