Minneapolis shooting suspect Carlton Johnson II allegedly threatened to gun down ex-girlfriend, kill someone as he faced eviction

A suspected gunman accused of shooting dead two people at his Minneapolis apartment complex allegedly told residents he would “kill someone” and previously threatened to gun down his ex-girlfriend.Carlton Johnson II, 35, clashed with residents at Shoreline Plaza, where he allegedly assaulted one person, and showed off his gun in several incidents this year over a six-month time frame, the Minnesota Star Tribune reported.He was slapped with an eviction notice and faced a hearing on September 11 — nine days before Wednesday’s rampage.

Johnson allegedly killed two people and injured six – including three cops – before reportedly taking his own life.Cops have not formally named him as the perp, but was identified as the shooter by people with knowledge of the investigation, according to the outlet.

Neighbors recalled Johnson had seemingly been plotting some sort of massacre in the days before the shooting.Johnson, who lived alone, allegedly threatened to shoot his ex-girlfriend and two property managers, his neighbor of a few months, Chris Miller, told the Star Tribune, recalling a conversation that happened on either Sunday or Monday.“He said, ‘I’m going to shoot people,’” Miller said.  “He was very, very angry, drunk and mad.”Derrick Thompson, who had recently moved out of the apartment complex, claimed Johnson was “fighting people every day, every damn day,” according to the Star Tribune.Thompson said Johnson was someone who socialized with neighbors but had “lost everything.”Johnson was involved in a child custody dispute and his car had recently been repossessed, according to his ex-neighbor.On June 16, the suspected shooter received a notice informing him that his lease was being terminated on June 29, KSTP reported.The letter, which was sent by the property’s legal team, set out seven incidents between January and June this year when Johnson allegedly breached the terms of his lease.On Jan.16, he “disturbed the peace”...
