Trent Grisham exits with hamstring issue in Yankees injury concern

SAN DIEGO — Perhaps this will settle the problem of whether the Yankees should start Trent Grisham or Spencer Jones in center field once Aaron Judge returns.Grisham exited Friday’s game against the Padres in the bottom of the third, an inning after he was unable to come up with a fly ball in front of him that landed for an RBI single.The Yankees announced that Grisham left the game with right hamstring discomfort.

It’s the same hamstring that landed him on the injured list earlier this year.After the frame was over, Grisham returned to the dugout, tapped director of sports medicine and rehab Mike Schuck on the back and headed with him down the stairs toward the clubhouse.When the Yankees took the field again in the bottom of the third, Heliot Ramos entered the game in right field, with Jones moving to center.Grisham, who dealt with a hamstring strain earlier this season, has lost some speed, but it raised eyebrows when he was not able to run in to catch Xander Bogaerts’ bloop to center Friday night.The veteran has been scuffling at the plate lately, coinciding with a surge from Jones, creating questions of who would play center field once Judge returns to right field as soon as next week....
