DraftKings surprise Angelenos with free gas to kick off football season
In a city where the price of gasoline can feel like its own contact sport, DraftKings found a pretty effective way to celebrate the return of football: free gas!DraftKings descended upon Los Angeles last week, transforming a local North Hollywood gas station into a football-themed takeover, giving hundreds of Angelenos free gas as part of “DraftKings Gameday,” the company’s nationwide celebration of the college football and NFL seasons. Former Los Angeles Rams running back Todd Gurley and USC Trojans Heisman-winning quarterback Matt Leinart joined in the festivities, interacting with fans as motorists pulled in for free fuel. The event was a surprise, so none of the commuters who pulled into the gas station for a fill up knew beforehand.The event lasted four hours and also featured giveaways, contests, and interactive experiences. The promotion carried additional significance in California, where the DraftKings app became available for download as the company celebrated its first football season with nationwide availability.Additionally, DraftKings SERVES, the company’s community impact program, also announced a $50,000 donation to Disabled American Veterans.
