Madeon Remixes 'Sonic the Hedgehog' Theme for Fortnite Collaboration

10 years after Sonic the Hedgehog‘s official account publicly teased a relationship with Madeon, the French artist has finally put his stamp on the franchise.Madeon has produced a new remix of the iconic franchise’s ‘Green Hill Zone’ theme to celebrate its ongoing collaboration with Fortnite, giving one of gaming’s most recognizable melodies an electronic overhaul.

In February 2016, the official Sonic the Hedgehog account posted a cryptic teaser incorporating the visual language surrounding Madeon’s debut album, Adventure.Months later, the game’s developers approached the influential producer and singer-songwriter about licensing his music for a trailer.

He’s now produced new music in collaboration with the franchise.“Made music for my favorite video game of all time to celebrate Sonic x Fortnite!” Madeon wrote in an Instagram post.

Check out a clip of him dropping the track live below.Originally composed by Masato Nakamura, ‘Green Hill Zone’ accompanied the opening level of the original Sonic the Hedgehog back in 1991.

Its bright melody has since become virtually inseparable from the franchise, resurfacing in games, adaptations and countless reinterpretations over the ensuing decades.Its latest home is Fortnite.
