The change retires ‘Power Bite,’ a custom track by dance music producer BVRNOUT that lasted just one season amid persistent accusations that generative AI played a role in its creation.Those suspicions intensified after fans discovered what appeared to be BVRNOUT’s profile on Suno, the controversial AI music generator.
The account previously hosted an AI remix called ‘Sharky Party’ that reportedly contained the same lyrics and a strikingly similar instrumental foundation to ‘Power Bite.’ The account remains online, though its uploaded songs have since disappeared.BVRNOUT has not publicly addressed the accusations but the Sharks said the DJ denied using AI when asked by the organization, according to SFGATE.
Chief Marketing Officer Doug Bentz said the team tracks sentiment through postgame surveys, focus groups and social media, and negative reactions to ‘Power Bite’ had become substantial enough to catch its attention.As he put it, the Sharks did not want the controversy to become “a drag on the brand or their experience.” San Jose began collecting fan suggestions midway through last season before narrowing the field to 15 recognizable songs with Bay Area ties.
