SNL Takes On Hegseths New Logo And USS Lincoln Woes In Unhinged Cold Open

LOADINGERROR LOADING“Saturday Night Live” cast member Colin Jost reprised his role as Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth for the Oct.10 cold open to roast the Trump administration’s handling of conditions aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln, which returned to port in San Diego this week. The sketch featured Hegseth, sporting an ammunition belt full of Fireball Cinnamon Whisky, welcoming back several sailors aboard the aircraft carrier, where the defense secretary received a less-than-warm reception.

Advertisement “I’m honored to be here addressing all you brave men and women. How are you sailors doing tonight?” Hegseth said in the sketch.

“We’re bad,” one of the sailors replied.“OK, I heard awesome,” Hegseth fired back. The sketch then roasted the reported abhorrent conditions aboard the aircraft carrier during its lengthy deployment.

“I couldn’t be more proud of you.Only eight of you attempted suicide.

Two of you since I started talking,” Hegseth said in the sketch.Advertisement Hegseth then moved to brief the sailors on what’s been happening on land, in case they “immediately want to head back to sea.” “Public executions are back.

Kind of like ‘Scrubs.’ And if the guy somehow survives the firing squad, then he’s got to fight Jake Paul,” Hegseth said in the sketch. The sketch then mocked Hegseth’s newly unveiled “Department of War” logo.“I also unveiled a new logo for the Department of War, yeah, pretty sick, right? Check that out,” Hegseth said.

Advertisement “Sorry, is that a Nazi eagle?” one of the sailors asked.“It’s an American eagle with a Nazi vibe,” Hegseth proclaimed in the sketch.

“It just looks identical to the Nazi eagle,” the sailor said.“You know, the only eagle you should be worried about is your mom’s spread eagle on my bed right now,” Hegseth fired back.
