Mike Brown uses baseball analogy to explain what irked him most in Knicks loss

PHILADELPHIA — Mike Brown turned to baseball to explain the sloppiness. The Knicks coach was not happy with the 13 turnovers his team committed during their 98-93 loss to the 76ers on Friday night at Xfinity Center. The 76ers turned those turnovers into 23 points.
“It’s been going on all year,” Brown said.“We’re trying to hit a home run every time we get the ball.
And we have to hit singles. We can’t hit a home run.
We gotta hit singles offensively and then if our play breaks down, we have to move.“There’s too many times where we have too many guys trying to iso.And the other four guys sitting there and staring at the ball a whole possession and then we’re burping up bad shots.”The crisp ball movement that became a staple during the championship run last year has not been consistent through six games this season.
They’re instead trying to force it into spaces that are not open.“Just a little careless,” Jalen Brunson said.“And sometimes it can be us being hesitant as well, wanting to make the right play, but they’re also not trying to turn it over, and then it’s just a little late to our decision-making.
It could be a lot of things, but obviously we got to clean it up.”Added Josh Hart: “Some of them are just trying to make tough passes.Other ones, I don’t know.
We just have to be more conscious of passes, what we’re doing, trying to be more deliberate.” Sign up for Inside the Knicks by Stefan Bondy, a weekly exclusive on Sports+.Please provide a valid email.
