Moment underage party girls try to lie their way past cops in elite California beach city

Two young women in tony Newport Beach learned the hard way the consequences of using a fake ID — and got a geography lesson along the way.Body camera footage shared by the Newport Beach Police Department showed cops confronting the pair outside a bar on West Oceanfront and checking their IDs.The officer asks one of the women where she is from, to which she responds Washington state.
He then asks where she goes to school, and she answers Illinois State while claiming her family lives in Massachusetts.“That’s Washington,” the woman says, pointing to the ID.“This says Massachusetts,” the officer replies.“Well, isn’t that in Washington?” the woman asks, leading the officer to turn to his partner with a look of disbelief.Afterward, the woman confesses to only being 20 years while also admitting she attends the University of Southern California, adding: “I’m smarter than Illinois.”The footage later shows the woman being handcuffed. She tries to explain away the offense by saying all of her friends used fake IDs, to which the cops respond that they’ve already arrested 10 people. The video was shared as part of the Newport Beach’s public awareness campaign aimed at preventing underage drinking and DUIs from spring break through the summer.“Think your fake ID will work here? The Newport Beach Police Department and local businesses are one step ahead,” the city shared in a Monday post alongside a clip of cops and bar hoppers warning against the IDs....
