Chris Olave gets $132 million extension from Saints to end hold-in saga

Chris Olave’s contract saga has come to an end.Olave and the Saints have agreed to a four-year extension worth up to $132 million, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.The contract includes $90 million guaranteed, and will make Olave the sixth-highest paid wide receiver in the NFL.Olave had been holding in, reporting to training camp but not participating in high-intensity drills, as the Saints opened camp this week and Olave enters the final season of his rookie deal.

Last season, Olave recorded his third 1,000-yard season in his first four years in the league.On Tuesday, Saints general manager Mickey Loomis shared that the Saints and Olave were inching toward an agreement as camp opened.“We’re having a lot of discussions,” Loomis said via the New Orleans Times-Picayune.“We’re just not there yet.

We’re hopeful.”Last season, Olave set career highs with 100 catches, 1,163 receiving yards, and nine touchdowns, placing him in the top ten league-wide in all three categories and earning him Second-Team All-Pro recognition.Olave ranked sixth in the NFL with 151 targets last year, despite missing the final week of the season with blood clots in his lungs.He was cleared to fully practice on Tuesday, and is now set to be a full participant in training camp with his contract settled.Olave now joins several other Ohio State wide receivers who have signed massive contracts over the last two offseasons.
