Mamdani cries at a murderers death will he ever care about crime victims?

Giving damning proof of the left’s twisted priorities, Mayor Zohran Mamdani this week mourned the death of a Rikers inmate awaiting trial for a brutal murder — with nary a thought for Clarence Woodward’s victim, or his survivors.Progressives never miss a chance to sympathize with criminals; they see the only true crime to be putting people behind bars instead of addressing the “root causes” of social dysfunction.“I am deeply saddened by the death of a New Yorker in City custody at a jail on Rikers Island early this morning,” Mamdani tweeted Tuesday, also extending his sympathy to Woodward’s “family and loved ones as they grieve this loss.”Corrections Commissioner Stanley Richards likewise bemoaned the “tragedy.”Woodward took the life of Jose Miranda with a meat cleaver in a Bronx laundromat in 2024; Miranda’s family rightly calls the mayor’s words “a slap in the face.”Yes, as the pro-criminal, “close Rikers” claque never tires of telling us, people awaiting trial in the city’s jails are legally as innocent as kittens.Thing is, Woodward had just been released from prison on parole for assault and attempted robbery when he butchered Jose Miranda on camera. The true tragedy is how progs have “reformed” the criminal-justice system to keep putting proven menaces (Woodward’s rap sheet ran to 30 priors) back on the street.Fine, the mayor wasn’t wrong to note that “too many New Yorkers have died on Rikers Island”; on the other hand, they’re not being murdered by correction officers.
