Armed intruder lunges at Ohio gubernatorial candidate Amy Acton during event, injuring multiple people
An armed man lunged at Ohio’s Democratic gubernatorial nominee, Dr.Amy Acton, at a local fair on Sunday — injuring two people in the chaos before he was quickly arrested, according to authorities.The intruder, identified by local outlets as Patrick Havas, “lunged” toward Acton while she was visiting the annual Canfield Fair in Mahoning County, according to Addie Bullock, a Communications Director for the Acton campaign.“Dr.
Acton and Eric are grateful for the swift and decisive action of law enforcement and are praying for the recovery of those injured.This kind of violence has no place in Ohio.
Dr.Acton will always stand up to the chaos, hate, and vitriol that pits us against one another,” Bullock said in a statement.Havas, 38, busted into the Mahoning County Democratic Party tent and pushed his way to the front, knocking multiple volunteers to the ground in the process, Mahoning County Democratic Party Chair Chris Anderson wrote in a statement on social media.
Mahoning County Sheriff Jerry Greene told 21 News that the Havas — who was holding a phone camera and carrying two firearms and brass knuckles — pushed down two older adults in the pandemonium.Members of Acton’s security team, comprised of Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers, apprehended Havas before he could take out either of the guns he was carrying.Canfield Fair Police then assisted and took him into custody, according to the outlet.
